Provision for pupils with SEND is a matter for the school as a whole.

“All teachers and key workers are teachers of pupils with SEN”.


Bengeworth is a mainstream Primary school and as such we strive to be as inclusive as possible, with meeting the needs of pupils with a Special Educational Need/s and or Disabilities, wherever possible, where families want this to happen.


To respond to the growing complexity of our school community and the special educational needs within Bengeworth we demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusion. The Inclusion Leader is supported by;


  • Lead Support Professional for EAL pupils
  • 2x Lead Support Professional with the primary focus of SLCN/SEMH
  • 1x Lead  Support Professional with the primary focus of EAL
  • 17 CSPs
  • Speech and Language Therapist one day a week
  • Fortnightly visits from Educational Psychologist
  • Support from specialist teacher from the Vale Special School
  • Learning Support Teacher via Chadsgrove Teaching School
  • CCN support via Babcock


The areas of SEND, EAL and MA&T have comprehensive learning profiles to enable all staff to deliver a consistent graduated response to meet the needs of our pupils

The majority of our pupils are from a White British background with an average (14%) proportion of children entitled to Pupil Premium Grant.  29% of our children are learning to speak English as an additional language and, of these, the large majority join with little or no English. The proportions of pupils identified with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including those with a statement of special educational needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan, are roughly average (13%) and represent a range of increasingly complex needs. Bengeworth CE Academy values the contribution that every child can make and welcomes the diversity of culture, religion and intellectual style. We are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all of our pupils whatever their needs and abilities. All children with SEN are valued, respected and equal members of the school. Every effort is made to ensure that pupils identified as having SEND are fully integrated and have full access to the National Curriculum.
